Funeral: Violinist Lalgudi Jayaraman Died in Chennai - Lalgudi Jayaraman Death news Shakes the Music Lovers in Chennai | Lalgudi Jayaraman Family Awards Wiki Biography

Breaking News of the moment comes from Chennai where veteran violinist and composer Lalgudi Jayaraman died today after brief illness. He was 82 years old.

He breathed his last in a hospital in Chennai where he was admitted this morning for chest congestion. At around 6.30 p.m. he breathed his last.

Born into a musican’s family, Lalgudi Jayaraman carved out a niche for himself in the Carnatic music with his unique style. He was a child prodigy and had begun performances from the age of 12.

He is survived by his wife Rajalakshmi, one son Lalgudi G.J.R.Krishnan and one daughter Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi, both of whom are violinists.

Jayaraman achieved fame as a solo violinist and also had success as a composer in four languages – Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Sanskrit.

Considering his contribution to the field of music, he was conferred with several awards including Padma Shri in 1972 and Padma Bhushan in 2001.

He was also feted with state Vidhwan of Tamil Nadu and also fellow of Sangeet Natak Akademi.

The funeral details of Lalgudi Jayaraman are yet to be announced.
